Do you suffer with headaches? Have eye and sinus problems? Do you struggle with sleepless nights? Do you have hormonal imbalances? If so, then you may need to cleanse your brow chakra. Here is how to fix the problem…
Over the past couple of months, I have been working on cleansing my chakras. If you have been following along, you will know that some of these exercises have really helped, while others not so much. (If you haven’t read my previous posts, then you can catch up here)
The last chakra I have been working on is my brow chakra. I have spent a little longer on this one, because I felt it was really beneficial, and because I really enjoyed it!
So, without further ado, here is the low down on your brow chakra, and how it can help you:

What does awakening the brow chakra do?
Opening and cleansing this chakra brings equilibrium to the brain, balances your ego and aligns the higher consciousness. If you often find it difficult to sleep, it could be because your circadian rhythm is out of sync. The brow chakra helps to keep your sleep cycle balanced so that you feel awake and sleepy at the right times.
What is your brow chakra responsible for?
The brow chakra helps you to balance everyday activities. It encourages sound sleep, healthy eating habits and relaxation.
It also helps you seek more fulfilling job roles and relationships as it is linked to your intuition. So cleansing this chakra helps you to listen to your gut, or instincts, more often.
How do you cleanse your brow chakra?
There are many ways to cleanse this chakra. Here are 3 that I tried and found really useful:
Focus on a candle flame – This helps to boost the brow chakra.
These chakra meditation candles from Amazon are scented and coloured for the chakra you are working on. They smell wonderful and really help to focus your attention.
*If you live in the US, you will want to try this candle instead!
- Light your candle and sit about 18 inches away from it.
- Sit cross legged or in a chair with a straight back.
- Look at the flame without blinking for a few minutes.
- Now close your eyes; you will see a ‘ghost’ image of the flame at the centre of your brow. Watch this image until it disappears.
- You can blink a few times to dispel the image or repeat it.
I found this to be almost like a meditative exercise. It was relaxing to sit quietly and just concentrate on the flame. Clearing your mind this way is very restful.
Walk in nature – This helps to recharge the body, mind and spirit.
I do this on a regular basis anyway, this just gave me an excuse to do it more often! I love being in nature, in any form. Being around trees makes me feel like I can breathe; listening to the sound of the birds and the breeze through the leaves is incredibly relaxing. I particularly love being near the water, so I like to go to the beach and listen to the sound of the water lapping against the shore line, and watch the sunlight glisten on the surface.
Recharge with sun energies – This short activity will cleanse your brow chakra and prepare you to access the higher chakras.
- It is preferable if you can do this activity outside, but it will also work inside.
- Close your eyes and bring your awareness to your breath flowing through your nose, into your lungs.
- Imagine a glowing ball of golden sunlight filling your solar plexus area. Let shafts of this light energise your whole body, imagine a glow around your aura. If any part of you is in discomfort, direct some of this light to that area and imagine it healing you.
- At the end of the visualisation, consider how you feel.
I found this visualisation technique helpful. I could feel the benefits of it as my attitude shifted to a more positive place. Strangely enough, my cat, Gypsy, will climb into my lap and lay down quietly when I am doing this exercise! I imagined sending some of that golden light to her, as she still has a bit of a wheezy chest, and it seems to help her, (or maybe she just likes it when I’m calm and relaxed).
What colour is associated with the Brow Chakra?
This chakra resonates strongly with deep blue hues. Think deep blue ocean, Lapis Lazuli or a twilight sky to cleanse your brow chakra.

So, I only have one chakra left to work on now, but it is recommended not to try that one until the others are fully cleared and balanced. I don’t feel like I’m there yet so I’m going to revisit some of the others that I feel need some work before finally moving on to my Crown Chakra. I will be sure to keep you posted if anything happens!
